Among many Buddhist deities in Buddhism, Lokeshwor is one of the first ones to be worshiped and paid respect to. In Sanskrit, Lokeshwor means the lord who looks down towards the entire realm. Similarly, Lokeshwor is also referred to as Padmapani (“The Holder of Lotus”) in Sanskrit. He is a Bodhisattva who represents the compassion of all the Buddhas.
Lokeshwor is variably depicted, described, and portrayed differently in different cultures and countries as either a male or a female Buddhist deity.
He has many names and appearances. The number of heads he has varies from two to eleven, the number of arms from two to one thousand. The various forms of Lokeshwor are amalgamations of other Buddhist divinities and Hindu deities.

Preparing the Cotton canvas before starting to paint a Thangka. This process includes washing, drying, stretching, sizing and everything needed to make a perfect base for the thangka to last for centuries.
Thangka paintings are painted using natural minerals such as agate, gold, silver, cinnabar, saffron, ocher, rhubarb,lapis and many other minerals. To create the ideal pigment for painting, these materials are ground several times. This makes the materials even more durable and long-lasting. Thus, you can surely expect the color of the Thangka to withstand the test of time.
The gold in the ornaments and detailing is made from real gold dust.
