Silk brocading is a traditional Tibetan art form used to beautifully frame and decorate a Thangka. The brocade frame is made from rich silk fabric featuring vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and timeless elegance.
Adding a Thangka brocade enhances the overall beauty and presence of the painting, making it ideal for your meditation space, altar, or home décor. These sacred pieces of art embody the energy of the tradition, the deities, and the artists who create them.
Traditionally, a protective cloth covering is included to preserve the Thangka’s energy and shield it when not in use. When displayed, the cloth is drawn up to form a draped flower shape, with two decorative red streamers on either side.
Please ensure that both the Thangka and the brocade are added to your cart.
Kindly allow 3–5 days for the brocade to be carefully hand-stitched onto your Thangka before shipment.

I’m completely satisfied that I chose to add the silk frame because it sets off the sacred quality I attach to the Amitabha thangka especially well. It took a moment to decide which id choose because of the excellent selection offered!

Absolutely breathtaking and stunning!
We are so happy we found Art of Tibet. The artwork is so beautifully amazing and spiritual. Thank you Mila for all your support and help with this order. We appreciate you.
Silk brocading is a process of framing a Thangka in traditional Tibetan style. The frame is made of beautiful silk fabric having rich colors and patterns. Brocade can be added to any Thangka painting upon request. The diagram to the right shows the different components of a typical brocade frame.
The silk fabric protects the edges of the Thangka, and also makes it easier to hang. A thin silk cover protects the painting when rolled, and may be gathered up to display the painting when hung on the wall. It is generally thought that silk brocade renders a Thangka more attractive and more religious.
BROCADE EXPERTS FROM NEPAL
Framing the Thangka is a laborious process and it requires great skill to end up with a straight-hanging piece of art. Further, a Thangka may be easily damaged during the brocading process and the silk fabric is expensive. Thus, all of our brocading work is performed by a specialized tailor with many years of brocading experience. We guarantee that your frame will look stunning and the work is usually completed within one to two business days (very large Thangkas may take a bit longer).

Nice addition to my Thangka

This thangka was my first purchase from Art of Tibet and I’ve been very pleased with the quality of the art, their efficiency in producing and delivering it, and the rich addition it makes to my life. I’d recommend this line of craft and those who make it available around the globe.
Spectacular Kalachakra, shipped to protect and preserve
The mandala arrived in a thin gauge 1.5" hard plastic pipe, not a crushable cardboard tube. It was taken to an artist who's done custom framing for over 40 years. When the mandala was rolled out she was stunned by it's colors, beauty, gold highlights, detail and intricate designs in multiple (as was I) and had never seen anything like it in her 40 years. It will receive 99% UV protective, non reflecting museum quality glass with a color matched frame. She was awe struck when I explained it's basics, the wheel of time, and how what she was looking at is duplicated in 20-ft. x 20-ft. by multiple monks in sand for a ritual. She asked why the artist didn't sign it and I explained that would be a egoic act and thoroughly juxtaposed to the impermanence of all all things as the wheel of time ensures. Thank you very much for the rapid shipping and exquisite high quality Kalachakra Mandala. May all at Art Of Tibet enjoy good health and full hearts. Om, Thomas
I am more than satisfied with the beautiful craftsmanship of this mala. It has quickly become my favorite to use for teaching & practicing Kundalini yoga & gong healing. The attention to detail, handsome design, and quality of materials are even more profound than looking at the online picture.
I have so much gratitude to the artist(s) and craftsfolk of this Thangka. The colors are vivid and stunning, even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. White Tara was radiant and soothing as soon as I opened the Thangka. She is exactly the energy I've been needing to connect with during a difficult time. I would be interested in knowing the names of the artist(s) if that is permitted? I would like to dedicate merit to them as well in appreciation.
Delivery was clear, easy to track, and well communicated.
I bought this bracelet for my wife as a gift and she absolutely loves the bracelet. The product is great quality, beautiful colors, compliments her arm tattoo sleeve, and is easy to operate without any help from me in tightening it. She also loves the face she can wear it in water as does not take her bracelets off.
It is an exquisite piece of mala beads! I’m very impressed with the stones and the beauty of the colors. It feels cool when you first put in on. It means the stones are genuine. I adore it!
I am so happy with my purchase the detail is utterly sublime and shipping and customer service are second to none. Thank you so so much for your beautiful products x
I love my set of Tibetan Singing Bowls. They all sound beautiful and deliver was very quick! I will go to the Art of Tibet for my future bell or other items that I want!
I ordered a Tangka painting. The quality is excellent, even earned the compliment by a Chief Monk. The delivery was swift (only took 3 days from Nepal to Hong Kong).
