Mahavir Swami Tirthankar Shrine

This remarkable bronze shrine, richly inlaid with coral, turquoise, and lapis lazuli, portrays Lord Mahavir Swami, the 24th and final Tirthankar of Jainism. Revered as the supreme teacher of non-violence, discipline, and spiritual liberation, Mahavira is depicted in deep meditation (dhyasana), marked with a radiant diamond-shaped emblem on his chest — a symbol of purity and the soul’s eternal brilliance.

Surrounding him are the 23 earlier Tirthankaras, forming a complete lineage of enlightened teachers who guide beings across the ocean of samsara. His lion-supported throne reflects strength, authority, and fearlessness, while the fine inscriptions on the reverse provide an enduring historical and devotional context. Crafted during the 16th century, this shrine stands as a union of profound spirituality and exquisite artistry.

Symbolism:

  • Liberation (Moksha): Mahavir Swami represents the soul’s final release from worldly bondage.

  • Lineage of Tirthankaras: The surrounding figures embody continuity of wisdom across 24 enlightened beings.

  • Lion Throne: Symbol of courage, truth, and spiritual authority.

  • Stone Inlay (Coral, Turquoise, Lapis): Enhances the shrine’s sacred energy, symbolizing vitality, protection, and clarity.
